The Pharmacy Technician Trainee, under the immediate oversight of a Florida Registered Pharmacist, shall support the mission of the hospital and pharmacy department and is responsible for the efficient, accurate and timely preparation, compounding, labeling and delivering of pharmaceuticals to meet the needs of all internal customers, within the confines of the Pharmacy Technician Training Program.

- Accurately replenishes automated drug dispensing cabinets.
- Performs scheduled maintenance and cleaning functions to assure proper performance of pharmacy equipment.
- Delivers medications and IV solutions to assigned nursing units within the time defined by LRH policy.
- Performs medication billing/crediting functions, code box replenishment, prepacking, and medication refills.
- Within the scope of practice allowed under Pharmacy Practice Law, answers all questions that arise from LRH employees regarding medication storage, delivery location and/or questions regarding the automated drug dispensing cabinets.
- Refers questions outside of scope to a pharmacist.
- Maintains pharmacy inventories which are free from expired products and completes routine patient care units’ medication room inspections, as well as other areas as assigned.
- Remains current with all LRH mandatory annual education.
- Operates all pharmacy automation systems, in accordance with standard operating procedures, including but not limited to pharmacy carousels, unit dose prepacking machines, electronic health record systems, QS1 and automated drug dispensing cabinets (ADDCs).

Qualifications & Experience
- High School or Equivalent
- Requires the successful completion of a web-based training module with a passing score of 70% or higher on exam within 6 months of hiring and registration with the Florida Department of Health/Board of Pharmacy. At the discretion of pharmacy leadership and in accordance with Florida Law, the completion time may be extended for a period not to exceed an additional 6 months.
