Shift : 6:30 am to 3:00 pm weekends 2 on and 1 off for first 6 months and then every other

Position Summary

We are looking for very friendly and enthusiastic people who enjoy providing exceptional service. For this position, you must be able to interact with patients in their rooms and over the phones in a friendly and helpful manner. Also, must have strong computer and tablet skills. You will work as part of a team ensuring that the patient’s dietary needs are met. Your functions will include: coordinating with care teams the patient meal assembly and service; receiving patient phone calls and coordinating patient meals for the room service systems, responsible for processing accurate patient meals and nourishments in accordance with dietary prescriptions, serving patients in a courteous manner; effective communication to the patients, care teams and supervisors; sanitation; and other food service tasks to meet service needs. You are also responsible for identifying potential patient nutritional problems and interact with clinical dietitians for appropriate intervention. Additionally, you are responsible for and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and costs, as well as patient, customer and employee satisfaction by exhibiting effective communication and professional behavior in contributing to the cultural expectations of the organization. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Responsibilities

Standard Work: Dietary Ambassador

• Exceptional Customer Service. Interacts with patients to obtain meal choices and answer any questions regarding diet or menu process. Inputs information in the dietary software system to meet service needs. Visit patients in their rooms or takes patient calls in a timely manner as per department standard work in order to obtain patients’ food and beverage orders. Collaborates with the Dietary Assistants to ensure prompt and accurate delivery. When assigned to a particular floor or unit the dietary concierge will communicate clearly with patients, family members and all staff with a high level of compassion. Consistently caring and courteous through empathy by using scripting. Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
• Memorable Dining Service. Provide guidance to patients regarding their diets and selections. Troubleshoots the concerns of patients and family members, visitors and clinicians. Partners with key stakeholders to resolve concerns.
• Team Collaboration. May delegate tasks to the Dietary Assistant and/or Food Service Worker as necessary, under the direction of the Team Leader or Supervisor. May provide support to the team to prepare trays as needed.
• Dining Expertise. Demonstrates working knowledge of specific diets, the ability to modify trays using the menu guide by diet type and restriction. Ensures that each patient receives their prescribed diet.
• Patient Advocacy. Accurately documents patient intake in the medical health record. Identifies potential patient nutritional problems and interact with clinical dietitians for appropriate intervention.
• Safety and Performance Improvement. Organizes job functions and work assignments to be able to effectively complete assignments within established time frames. Ensure carts and work area are clean, sanitized and well organized at all times. Keep work areas free of potential slip fall hazards at all times. All dishware is taken to the dish room to be cleaned and stored neatly ensuring established cleaning and safety guidelines are met. Behaves in a mindful manner focused on self, patient, visitor, and team safety. Demonstrates accountability and commitment to quality work. Participates actively in process improvement and adoption of standard work.

Experience Essential:

6 months’ demonstrating experience delivering exceptional face-to-face customer experiences in Food Service, Hospitality or Customer Service.

Experience Preferred:

1 year of experience as a Restaurant Server.
