Job Summary:

The Inventory Control Specialist supports production operations by ensuring material availability and inventory accuracy across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods. This role focuses on minimizing production downtime through effective inventory practices and process improvements tailored to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain inventory accuracy across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods to support uninterrupted production.
  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts based on production priorities and downtime windows.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to material usage, over-issues, or scrap tracking.
  • Collaborate with production leads and planners to anticipate inventory shortages and adjust reorder points.
  • Monitor and adjust inventory parameters in the ERP system (e.g., reorder levels, lead times).
  • Ensure accurate transactions of material movements between work centers and warehouse locations.
  • Analyze inventory trends and provide insights to improve stock turns and minimize excess or obsolete stock.
  • Support BOM validation and consumption accuracy audits.
  • Assist with physical inventory preparation, execution, and reconciliation.
  • Recommend process improvements and assist with lean manufacturing initiatives related to materials handling.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as necessary to move inventory.

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Experience in manufacturing or production inventory systems
  • Strong analytical and root cause investigation skills
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Plex, Oracle, etc.)
  • Understanding of production processes and material flow
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently on the plant floor and in an office setting

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2–4 years experience in manufacturing inventory control
  • Associate degree or coursework in supply chain or operations preferred

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to walk production floor and climb stairs
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform occasional material handling
  • Exposure to temperature fluctuations typical of a plant environment
