Are you energetic, responsible, and passionate about working with kids? Join the team at the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA as a Support Staff (Camp Counselor) and help create an unforgettable summer experience for campers!
Under the direction of the Site Director, Camp Counselors play an essential role in delivering a safe, engaging, and mission-driven camp program. You’ll provide direct supervision, lead activities, build positive relationships, and help foster a fun and inclusive environment where children grow in confidence, friendship, and character.

What You’ll Do

Provide direct supervision of an assigned group of campers throughout the camp day

Assist in leading daily activities including rotations, lunch, swimming supervision, and theme days

Maintain YMCA program standards for safety, cleanliness, and risk management
-
Follow all YMCA policies related to medical situations, behavior management, child abuse prevention, and emergency response

Build positive, professional relationships with campers, families, and staff
-
Help create a structured, inclusive, and fun camp environment

Greet campers and families warmly at arrival and dismissal

Collaborate closely with the Site Director and fellow camp staff

Day camp position — no overnight stays or bunk responsibilities. Enjoy a consistent 8:00 AM – 3:15 PM schedule and have your afternoons free!

Entering first year of college or equivalent experience preferred

Experience working with children in camp, education, athletics, or youth development settings

Ability to serve as a positive role model and demonstrate strong character
