Professional Groomer - Packerland Veterinary Hospital
Packerland Veterinary Center is a state-of-the-art facility that not only offers exceptional veterinary care from vaccines to orthopedics, but professional grooming services as well. Our clinic has a separate grooming center that is away from the hustle and bustle of the clinic and provides everything needed to offer a great experience for both pets and clients, but with the added bonus of having the support of a veterinary team close by.
Our groomers need to have a positive attitude, be self-motivated, have the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and have good time management skills. Groomers need to be comfortable working with cats and dogs of all sizes and must provide gentle and patient care to anxious or challenging pets. A good candidate needs to have the ability to bathe, shave, trim and maintain hygiene according to pet owner's preferences. This candidate should also be comfortable communicating concerns and recommendations for each pet they see.
Applicants are required to have professional grooming training/certification and/or independent experience in the field as training WILL NOT BE PROVIDED.
Job Type: Full-time hours typically from 7:45am to 5pm.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear.
The team member may frequently use a computer for periods of time. Specific vision
abilities are required to do this job including close vision. This position requires walking and/or
standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions. Must be
able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted, 50 lbs. with assistance. Working environment may be stressful
with aggressive, frightened, abused or injured animals that may bite or scratch.

WHAT YOU’LL DO (Essential Functions)
- Foster a culture built on our values: Respect, Learning, Do the Right Thing, WOW Service,
- Consult with pet owners to discuss their pet’s needs and desired style
- Wash, comb, brush and blow dry animal’s fur, removing mats and tangles as needed
- Cut and shape animal’s coat according to determined pattern, using electric clippers,
- Groom and style pet according to owner’s instructions, standard grooming styles,
- Clip nails, clean ears, and brush teeth
- Express anal glands manually as needed
- Promote skin and coat health through recommendations for regular grooming and
- Identify health issues in pets such as ear infections, skin conditions, wounds, and/or tooth
- Update and maintain all records to capture services performed, products recommended,
- Routinely clean and sanitize grooming tools, equipment, and all salon work areas
- Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of each pet during the grooming process
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of new trends and experiments with new grooming
- Support a practice environment that promotes collaboration and teamwork and ensures
- Comply with all practice policies, quality assurance guidelines, minimum standards of care,
Education
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (Essential Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Graduate of certified grooming program preferred
- Six months of professional pet grooming experience required
- Solid understanding of animal breeds, characteristics, and behavior
- Knowledge of pet grooming techniques and styles
- Ability to manually express anal glands
- Strong verbal and active listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Compassion and empathy for both pets and the pet owners
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Organizational and time management skills
