The City of Lake Worth Beach invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Meter Service Worker. This is a Full-Time, Non-Bargaining, Non-Exempt position based on a 40-hour work week with the starting hourly range of $28.11.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the individual in this position will perform routine work in the execution of Electric and Water Meter service requests.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Turns water meters and single-phase electric meters on and off upon request of customers or internal requirements
  • Obtains check readings upon request and answers customer inquiries in the field with considerable tact changes single phase electric meters on request
  • Reports irregularities
  • May act as Meter Reader
  • May deliver notices to customers 
  • Performs related work as required

KNOWLEDGE ABLILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment use in servicing electric and water meters and skill in their applications as applied to electric and water meters
  • Ability to read meters rapidly and accurately 
  • Ability to accurately perform simple arithmetic computations 
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees and customers
  • Good physical condition

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience as a Meter Reader
  • Must possess a valid and current Florida Driver’s License
  • A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications 

 

All full-time employees are considered critical in response to emergency situations and may be deemed essential as needed depending on the situation.

 

Employees in this position will be required to complete the FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Certification Levels 100, 200, 700 and 800 within the first six months of employment.   Certain positions may be required to attain additional ICS training as needed.
