What are the responsibilities and job description for the On Call Banquet Server position at Lake Wildwood Association?
Job Summary: A banquet server contributes to the success of The Events and Catering Department by serving food and beverages to guests, helping prepare for and clean up after the events, and providing excellent customer service to guests at large events, parties, and weddings. Other responsibilities of this position include helping set up and break down the event.
Event Staff Uniform: Black button up, collared shirt. Black slacks. Black shoes. Black bistro apron.
Essential Duties AND Responsibilities include the following:
· Upon arrival:
o Check in with Events Manager and / or Banquet Captain.
o Review of Banquet Event Order timeline and set-up details.
o Review of service position and responsibilities during Event.
o Review of scheduled break times.
· Prior to guest arrival:
o Set tables as described on BEO.
o Set-up beverage stations (as ordered on BEO) with coffee, iced tea, water, ice, napkins, straws, and garnishes as needed.
o Set-up buffet
§ Pull # of entrée plates per exact guest count.
§ Check plates for cleanliness prior to placing them on buffet.
§ Polish all chaffing dishes.
§ Set-up service ware on b&b plates
§ Fill chafing dishes (1 pitcher of hot water)
§ Light sternos (30 min prior to food service time)
o Set-up server bussing station.
o Prep water pitchers for water service.
o Prep iced tea pitchers as needed for table side refill service.
o Prefill water glasses.
· Event Service:
o Deliver food and beverages to guests in their service area as well as other areas as needed.
o Refill waters as needed.
o Observe and follow up with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service during banquet event.
o Anticipate / react to guest needs, answer questions, and provide suggestions to event attendees.
o Manicure tables by clearing plates, glassware etc. and maintain a neat “front of the house” service area.
o Empty trash and place dirty dishes in appropriate areas.
· Event End:
o Clear all dining tables completely.
o Remove all table linens.
o Empty trash.
o Clean event server station.
o Wash all glassware and return it to the event server station.
o Breakdown beverage service station.
o Check-in with Events Manager and / or Banquet Captain prior to clocking out.
· In Addition:
o Adhere to all department specific and company standards, policies, procedures and safety rules at all times.
o Demonstrate compliance with all alcohol service laws, as well as company policies and procedures with regard to alcohol service, including carding all guests under age 40.
o Knowledge and use of proper sanitation procedures to clean banquet equipment and facilities.
o All other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 4 per week
