What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher 2025-2026 position at Lake Washington School District?
Lake Washington School District (LWSD) is looking for qualified Substitute Teacher candidates for the 2025-2026 school year substitute pool. If you are a current certificated substitute within LWSD, you need NOT re-apply.
Certificated Substitute Teachers work on an at-will basis during the school year to fill absences they select. Work hours will vary based on the assignment. Applications will be reviewed when complete (with all appropriate confidential references returned - must include one recent supervisor). Candidates will be contacted by the Substitute Office as openings occur within the substitute pool.
Mandatory orientation and training will occur after a candidate is selected for the Substitute Pool.
Qualifications
Certificated substitute daily rate of pay (full day, 7 hrs): $222.00 per day.
Friday Super Rate--$247.00 for a full-day and $123.50 for a half-day (3 ½ hours).
Substitutes who work six (6) to twenty (20) consecutive days in the same assignment shall be paid $223.00 per day (24-25)

Substitutes who work 50-69 days per year will receive a $1,000.00 dollar bonus; substitutes who work 70-99 days per year will receive a $1,500.00 bonus; and substitutes who work 100 days per year will receive a $2,000.00 bonus at the end of the school year.
A day shall be equal to one full day or two half days. The bonus is paid at the end of the school year in the July paycheck.
Long Term Substitute Assignments
Long-term substitute assignments in excess of twenty (20) days in the same assignment will be paid at the contract teacher rate, retroactive to the first day of assignment, except that when, in the judgment of Human Resources, the assignment appears at the onset to be a long-term assignment, the contract teacher rate may be paid from the beginning of the assignment.
Substitutes can become eligible for benefits. See section 22.1.1 through 22.1.4 of the current CBA.
