Position Overview

Lake to River Economic Development is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and relationship-oriented professional to serve as the Director of Engagement and Investor Relations. This role acts as a force multiplier for the Vice President of Engagement and Investor Relations, supporting stakeholder engagement, investor relations strategy, fundraising execution, and internal coordination.

The Director will play a critical role in ensuring that Lake to River’s external engagement efforts across investors, partners, public stakeholders, and the broader community are well prepared, consistently executed, and effectively translated into tangible outcomes.

This position blends strong operational execution with growing strategic responsibility. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing details, building relationships, and taking ownership of key initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

Investor Relations and Fundraising Execution

- Support development and execution of Lake to River’s investor relations strategy

- Assist in cultivation of new investors and strengthening relationships with existing partners

- Lead outreach and relationship management for select investors and prospects

- Manage and execute fundraising engagement to ensure commitments are secured and maintained

- Where appropriate, lead smaller investment asks, generally under $25,000, and support larger asks led by senior leadership

- Track investor pipeline, commitments, and engagement activity

Stakeholder and Investor Engagement

- Support preparation of briefing materials, including summaries, talking points, and background research

- Coordinate scheduling, preparation, and follow up for investor, stakeholder, government, and partner engagements

- Track commitments, action items, and next steps to ensure consistent follow through

- Maintain accurate records of stakeholder interactions, notes, and outcomes

Grants and Funding Development

- Research, write, and submit foundation and corporate grant applications

- Support development of proposals for private banking and philanthropic funding opportunities

- Assist in managing grant timelines, reporting requirements, and supporting documentation

- Contribute to broader funding strategy by identifying ideas, new grant and funding opportunities

CRM, Data, and Engagement Tracking

- Build, manage and maintain Lake to River’s CRM, contact lists, and engagement tracking

systems

- Ensure timely data entry, updates, and reporting to support fundraising, investor relations, and board communications

- Develop and maintain dashboards or summaries to track outreach, engagement, and funding progress

- Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes for tracking and follow through

Communications, Marketing, and Content

- Assist with marketing efforts outside of traditional economic development activities, including content that supports investor engagement and organizational visibility

- Draft first pass emails, letters, summaries, and reports for internal and external use

- Build and format presentations for meetings, events, and board materials

- Support development of briefing packets and follow up materials

- Help ensure consistency in messaging and materials across engagement efforts

Events, Meetings, and Logistics

- Coordinate logistics for meetings, roundtables, investor events, and stakeholder gatherings

- Manage calendars, invitations, materials, and on-site execution

- Support post event follow-up, documentation, and relationship tracking

Strategic Initiatives and Organizational Priorities

- Support key organizational initiatives and government affairs coordination in collaboration with internal and external partners

- Assist with cluster based or priority industry work as needed

- Help translate engagement activity into actionable progress across projects and partnerships

- Provide general operational support across initiatives as Lake to River continues to grow

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, public administration,

business, nonprofit management, economic development, or a related field

- 4 to 7 years of relevant professional experience in government relations or development, preference for both

- Significant knowledge of and experience in the LTR region; economic development experience a plus

- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grant writing and professional correspondence

- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

- Comfort with relationship management and external engagement

- Experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Salesforce

- Experience with CRM systems, fundraising, or grant writing is highly preferred

- Professional, discreet, and comfortable working with senior leaders and external partners

Physical Requirements:

- Using office equipment, such as computers, telephones, and other tools, which require sitting and using your hands.

- Occasionally lifting/moving items up to 25 pounds, such as supplies or materials,

although heavy physical activity isn’t a core part of the job.

- Being able to work in an office environment and collaborate with others, which includes long period of sitting, typing and computer work, routine movements around an office or workplace.

- A valid driver’s license and insurability, this supports necessary travel between locations.

What Success Looks Like in the First Year

- Stakeholder and investor engagements are consistently well prepared and well documented

- Follow-ups, commitments, and funding opportunities are tracked, executed reliably and successfully.

- New investors and funding sources are identified and successfully cultivated

- Grant applications and funding proposals are completed on time and with high quality

- CRM and engagement data are accurate, current, and actively used to drive strategy

- Events, meetings, and outreach efforts run smoothly with minimal last-minute issues
