Job Description Overview: Lake Thunderbird Association is a homeowner association managing nearly 2000 lots in Illinois’ Putnam and Bureau counties, governed by an elected Board of Directors. The association employs a Lake Manager that must have or obtain status as an Illinois Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA). The manager position is a pivotal role in our community, and it requires a jack of all trades individual. Responsibilities include overseeing business operations and facilities maintenance as well as supporting the Board in HOA matters. As the lead administrative officer, the manager must assure we comply with all local, state and federal regulations. The manager also must possess a high level business acumen with the ability to make decisions under pressure and communicate effectively to multiple stakeholders.
The Lake Thunderbird community is home to a 112-acre spring fed lake for boating, swimming, fishing, and family enjoyment. The surrounding grounds are a nature lovers delight and have outstanding common areas, nature paths, private beach, mini golf, playgrounds, tennis courts, pickleball, disc golf, swimming pool, campgrounds, and a clubhouse for all our members.
Staff:
- Ensure effective operation of all office activities and physical facilities through hiring, leading and evaluating LTA staff.
- Lead and develop administrative and maintenance teams by building a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Communicate ongoing operations to staff and delegate tasks effectively.
Facilities:
- Maintain effective operations of association owned water system.
- Maintain lake and facilities in optimal operating condition.
- Evaluate and recommend maintenance and enhancements of all facilities to the Board.
Business Operations:
- Oversee long term asset planning and recommend annual reserve funding expenditures to the Board.
- Oversee effective operations of all business and financial functions, reporting clearly to the Board and membership.
- Review business records and reports to ensure adherence to standard procedures.
Member and Board Relations:
- Make decisions regarding members’ or public concerns and resolve day to day issues.
- Actively participate in community activities and commissions/committee meetings.
- Communicate with other community associations, professional and environmental groups.
- Participate in monthly Board meetings and ensure Board, staff and association members are apprised of all pertinent matters.
- 3-5 years management experience or equivalent required.
- Experience leading teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, with strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task each day.
- Proficient with computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and financial software applications.
- Strong customer service skills with ability to handle complaints in a timely and effective manner.
- Exhibits environmental awareness by adhering to sound conservation practices.
