We are seeking an experienced, motivated industry expert to teach in our Industrial Machinery Maintenance program and provide students with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills needed for success in today’s advanced manufacturing and industrial environments.
Position Summary
The Industrial Machinery Maintenance Instructor delivers classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory training, and industry-based learning experiences aligned with the Florida Department of Education Curriculum Framework. This position prepares adult learners for careers involving installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machinery and automated systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engaging instruction in industrial machinery maintenance and repair
- Train students in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and fluid power systems
- Teach troubleshooting, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and equipment installation
- Demonstrate safe operation of industrial tools, equipment, and machinery
- Prepare students to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Integrate OSHA safety standards and workplace readiness skills into instruction
- Maintain an organized, safe, and industry-standard laboratory environment
- Monitor student progress and provide academic and career guidance
- Collaborate with local industry partners to support workforce development initiatives
- Maintain accurate student records and support program accreditation requirements
Instructional Areas May Include
- Industrial electrical systems
- Motors and motor controls
- Mechanical drive systems
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Bearings, belts, chains, and gear systems
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Preventive and predictive maintenance
- Welding and fabrication fundamentals
- Industrial safety and troubleshooting techniques
Minimum Qualifications
- Extensive experience in industrial machinery maintenance, manufacturing, automation, or related field
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to work effectively with adult learners from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Postsecondary teaching experience preferred, but not required
- Industry certifications and/or licensure preferred
- Must meet Florida Department of Education requirements for postsecondary technical instructors
