Job Responsibilities
As a Pre-Operative Nurse, you'll play a crucial role in preparing patients for surgery and ensuring their safety and comfort. You will collaborate with surgical teams, provide education, and monitor patients to optimize outcomes before, during, and immediately after procedures.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Assessing patients’ medical history, vital signs, and readiness for surgery.
- Educating patients and their families about pre-operative procedures, expectations, and post-operative care.
- Administering medications and pre-op treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Coordinating with surgical teams, anesthesia, and other departments to ensure smooth surgical workflow.
- Ensuring patient safety, comfort, and emotional support throughout the pre-operative process.
- Documenting patient information accurately and maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
To join our team, you’ll need the following qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
- A minimum of 1 year of Pre-Op nursing experience.
- Hold a current Louisiana RN license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, and PALS certification.
REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
- Minimum of 1 years Pre-Op nursing experience
- Minimum of 1 year of ICU experience
- Active Registered Nurse License
