Description

The Lake Superior Community Partnership (LSCP), a full service and highly respected economic development organization, seeks an Outreach & Development Specialist to join their team located in beautiful Marquette County, MI. For twenty-seven years, the LSCP has been the local backbone of efforts to advance economic development throughout the Marquette County area. The Outreach & Development Specialist would join a 12-person team comprised of dedicated, welcoming, innovative, and community-focused individuals where no two days are the same and whose work is felt in businesses and communities across the area. The LSCP's work ranges from small business support, such as networking events and business plan development, to operating a long-running leadership academy (Lake Superior Leadership Academy), community development initiatives, conducting detailed economic impact studies, and connecting businesses with incentive support.

THE ROLE

The Outreach & Development Specialist is a critical member of the LSCP team focused on recruiting and maintaining LSCP member businesses and organizations and developing long-term relationships with key large investors. The position also serves as the lead for developing and implementing member engagement activities. The position is considered a “front line” team member, one of the first contacts current or future members will have with the LSCP and is responsible for maintaining the LSCP’s accessible and professional image.

PRIMARY POSITION OBJECTIVES

  • Design and implement services and programming to retain and recruit members of all sizes to the LSCP
  • Meet or exceed internal goals for new investors

  • At least two years of experience in sales, member relations, donor development, or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with peers and customers.

THE WORK ARRANGEMENT

The LSCP operates out of a collaborative economic development space alongside several other economic development organizations in a beautifully rehabilitated downtown building. We are within a block of Lake Superior, coffee shops, restaurants, shops, parks, and more. While all staff are based out of the office (you would have your own dedicated office space), flexible work location is a core part of our culture and you may find the team working down by the water, at home, a coffee shop, the library, etc. Aspects of the job will require regular on-site attendance to meet client and internal needs, so the successful candidate will be local or willing to relocate to Marquette prior to beginning the role. The team works hard throughout the year, but we strongly believe in work-life balance and managing mental health in the workplace.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS

Starting pay for Specialists is $41,400 - $43,400 for candidates meeting the minimum qualifications outlined above. The LSCP offers increased compensation for candidates who bring additional experience, credentials, and other unique assets to the team. The LSCP would consider candidates with at least five years of member relations/development to be hired at the Senior Specialist level, which provides opportunity for additional compensation. The position is eligible for all LSCP benefits, including health insurance, short-term disability, paid time off, holidays, Simple IRA (3% match), incentive-based bonuses, and more. The LSCP offers a flexible work environment, providing office space and a welcoming culture but allowing team members to work remotely when needed.

CAREER OPPORTUNITY

This position is a career opportunity with an established advancement ladder from Coordinator to Program Manager. The LSCP is seeking to hire at the 2nd or 3rd level (Specialist or Sr. Specialist). The LSCP strongly believes in professional development and advancement for its team members.
