As our Food Service Director (FSD), you'll play a key role in ensuring that our campers, guests, and volunteers experience the best in hospitality and nourishment during their time with us. We’re seeking an energetic, passionate, and organized leader who is dedicated to the Christian faith and committed to the ministry of hospitality. You’ll be responsible for creating a positive and memorable dining experience, ensuring every guest and camper is served healthy, delicious meals in a warm and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As our Food Service Director, you’ll be entrusted with overseeing the day-to-day food service operations for our camps and retreats, including:
· Supervising: Directing kitchen staff in meal preparation, cooking, and presentation for up to 220 people during our summer camp season and retreat sessions.
· Menu Planning: Crafting nutritious, appetizing menus that accommodate all dietary needs.
· Training & Mentoring: Supervising kitchen staff, volunteers, and seasonal employees while fostering a spirit of teamwork, mentorship, and leadership.
· Efficiency & Quality Control: Ensuring food service runs smoothly by managing inventory, ordering, tracking food costs, and maintaining excellent food safety practices.
· Hospitality Ministry: Serving as a vital part of our hospitality team, enhancing the camp experience for our guests and fostering a culture of care and service.
· Leadership: Supervising kitchen shifts, communicating effectively with program staff, and making sure every meal is served on time with love and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
We’re looking for someone who is:
· Passionate about cooking “from scratch” and feeding large groups with care.
· A strong communicator and natural leader with the ability to inspire and manage others.
· Experienced in food service, with at least 2-3 years in bulk food preparation or a related industry (e.g., cafeteria, catering, hospitality).
· Skilled in maintaining food safety protocols and regulations, and able to complete certifications as required.
· Physically capable of lifting 30-50 pounds and standing for long periods.
· Flexible, with a heart for Christian service and a willingness to go above and beyond to serve others.

Part-Time or Full-Time Options: This position offers flexibility with the potential for either a part-time year-round role or a full-time position with additional responsibilities such as custodial work and office assistance.

A Day in the Life at LSCA (Summer Season):
During the summer (typically May to August), your days will be fast-paced and fulfilling as you prepare for and oversee two daily shifts of meal service, plan for special dietary needs, and lead a team of staff and volunteers. You’ll communicate directly with camp directors, plan for special events like adventure camps, and ensure that every meal is an opportunity to minister to those you serve.
Expectations for Year-Round Operations:
From August to May, you’ll help with seasonal staff recruitment, maintain food service certifications, and communicate with guest groups to ensure they have an exceptional experience at LSCA. If a full time positions is pursued, custodial work will be added to your responsibilities. You’ll also serve as a critical part of the team, helping wherever needed to keep our facilities running smoothly.
