What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Bus Driver position at Lake Shore Central School District (NY)?
Scope of Responsibilities:
Responsible to comply with all Rules and Regulation of the New York State Education Department, Department of Motor Vehicles and Department of Transportation.
• Able to relate to children of differing ages or cognitive level as well as with students with special needs.
• Communicate school bus ridership rules and maintain orderly behavior of pupils while on the bus.
• Oversee the safe loading and unloading of students; training students in proper crossing techniques.
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Be willing to communicate with classroom aides, teachers, principals, and parents concerning student behavior as appropriate.
• Ensure all students who require specialized securement are properly secured in a 5-point harness, safety vest, or appropriate mobility device during transport.
• Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation Procedures.
• Ability to complete a proper pre-trip and post-trip in accordance with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:

• As specified by New York State Department of Education/Department of Motor Vehicles/Department of Transportation
• Non-Competitive: Possession of a valid New York State Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger, and School Bus endorsement.
