Job Duties
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond to emergency calls and incidents requiring police assistance.
- Conduct thorough investigations of crimes, including gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting incidents, arrests, and other law enforcement activities.
- Enforce traffic laws and regulations to ensure road safety.
- Engage in community outreach programs to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and the public.
- Utilize surveillance techniques to monitor suspicious activities or individuals.
- Handle animal-related incidents with care and professionalism, including animal control duties when necessary.
- Maintain physical fitness and proficiency in driving under various conditions.
Qualifications
- Must currently hold North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification.
- Must be eligible for certification as a Police Officer under the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related fields is preferred.
- Successfully complete required background investigations and applicable pre-employment screening.
- Possess a valid NC driver's license.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, professionalism, and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Possess a commitment to community-oriented policing and public service.
Special Note
Company police officers commissioned under North Carolina General Statute Chapter 74E are not part of the state (TSERS) or local (LGERS) government retirement systems. Retirees are welcome!
