POSITION: TRiO Student Advisor/Transfer Coordinator

LOCATION: Devils Lake, ND

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: This is a full-time, 10-month, benefited position running August 1st to May 31st, dependent on grant funding.

BACKGROUND CHECK: LRSC does require a successful background check for the selected candidate prior to beginning employment.

JOB SUMMARY: The TRiO Student Advisor/Transfer Coordinator is responsible for helping to prepare students to be successful throughout their college career with Lake Region State College and transfer to another institution to complete a Bachelor’s degree if desired. This position provides ongoing advisement and support to students with specific regard to their progress on reaching their academic goals. It proactively identifies barriers to success based on observations of student activity and performance measurements and student and faculty feedback, conducts timely student outreach through multiple channels as needed, and troubleshoots and/or provides resources to help students persist in their educational goals. The TRiO Student Advisor/Transfer Coordinator is a collaborative position that supports and is provided support from other advisors, departmental leadership, and staff and faculty outside the department. The ideal candidate must take an active role in contributing to the desired college culture of inclusion, supportiveness, championing success, along with supporting other departmental projects and initiatives as assigned.

Minimum qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree. Applicants must have effective verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills consistent with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; strong organizational skills; and experience using Microsoft Office. The successful candidate must also demonstrate the ability to analyze data and provide informed recommendations regarding program direction and necessary support services; analyze, problem-solve, and make appropriate decisions; set and manage priorities and deadlines; maintain confidentiality; and provide prompt follow-up with faculty, staff, and students. This position requires occasional travel and the supervision of students.

Preferred qualifications: Preference given to candidate with a Master’s degree and previous experience in post-secondary education or federal/grant program, and previous student services/advising experience. Preference will be given to applicants with backgrounds similar to SSS participants.

SALARY: $38,134 - $42,000 depending on experience
