POSITION: Food Service - Head Cook

LOCATION: Devils Lake, ND

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: This is a full-time, 12-month, benefited position.

BACKGROUND CHECK: LRSC does require a successful background check for the selected candidate prior to beginning employment.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsibilities include preparing and cooking nutritious meals for customer and special event, in a sanitary manner; menu planning; preparing regular menu items following standardized menu and recipes; using following equipment including but not limited to, grills, meat slicer, steam equipment, fryers, ovens, calculator, and scales, stoves, and mixers; and preparing food to meet all meal deadlines and maintain the highest quality and freshness as possible. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm with occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime. This position requires the ability to stand for 3-4 hours, walking, hand use, reaching with arms, and the ability to lift or move up 50 pounds.

Minimum qualifications: Previous knowledge of food production and working knowledge of large quantity food service operations; knowledge of proper procedures to clean and sanitize the work, serving, and equipment areas; familiarity with MS Office software and email; strong organizational skills; excellent customer service skills; good oral and written communication skills; desire to interact positively with customers and coworkers and the ability to contribute to a positive and productive team environment. Must have high school diploma or GED, or equivalent cooking experience in a food service. A successful candidate without a high school diploma or GED must agree to enroll in the Adult Learning Center at LRSC and complete the GED within one year from the date of hire.

Preferred qualifications: include food safety certification, college or institution food service experience and experience working in a large commercial food service operation.

SALARY: $40,000 - $45,600 based on experience plus excellent benefit package
