Job Description:We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Pediatric Billing & Coding Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in pediatric billing and coding who can take ownership of the full claims process from creation to submission.
The primary responsibility of this role is creating, scrubbing, and submitting clean claims to insurance carriers. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of pediatric coding guidelines and payer requirements to ensure accuracy and maximize reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, scrub, and submit insurance claims accurately and timely (primary responsibility)
- Ensure compliance with pediatric coding guidelines and payer-specific requirements
- Manage and follow up on patient accounts receivable (AR)
- Post insurance payments and patient payments accurately
- Review and post EOBs (Explanation of Benefits)
- Work and resolve claim rejections and denials
- Submit and track claim appeals
- Assist patients with billing questions and set up payment plans
- Balance and reconcile self-pay accounts
- Apply patient credits and adjustments appropriately
- Process insurance refunds and recoupments
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of medical billing and coding experience (pediatrics required)
- Strong knowledge of pediatric coding guidelines and insurance requirements
- Proven experience creating, scrubbing, and submitting claims
- Experience with AR follow-up and denial management
- Familiarity with billing software and EMR systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred (Not Required):
- Coding certification (CPC, CCS, etc.)
- Experience in a pediatric or family practice setting
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
