As a Host at The Lake House Restaurant, you are responsible for contributing towards the overall success of the dining room and restaurant. You are expected to follow all LOW policies and procedures as well as working towards fulfilling our mission, vision, and philosophy. This position is a fundamental role in creating an exceptional experience for LOW guests. Your success will be measured through favorable reviews and your ability to meet stated objectives, while fulfilling the job responsibilities listed below.
General Responsibilities
- Greeting guests as they enter, and putting them on a waiting list as necessary
- Providing guests with menus and answering any initial questions
- Seating guests at tables or in waiting areas
- Engaging with guests to ensure they are happy with food and service
- Responding to complaints and helping to resolve them
- Answering phone calls or checking voicemail to make reservations and answer questions
- Knowledge of the menu
- Keep menus clean
- Helping out with other positions in the restaurant as needed
- Providing great customer service
- Providing and accommodating special request needs from guests, this may include services needed for small children, as well as for individuals with disabilities
- Inspects and maintains the dining facilities, acknowledges (and corrects) cleanliness problems and help clear tables
- Smile, make eye contact with the guests, and to be courteous to them, e.g open doors
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards
- Ability to work well with others and possess strong communication skills
- Attention to detail in creating an exceptional dining experience
- Ability to effectively plan and execute flow of work with clear focus
- Ability to demonstrate familiarity with various service techniques
- Have basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations, wine, food and beverage
- Positive/ongoing personality with problem solving ability
- All other related responsibilities assigned by management
Physical Requirements
- Requires grasping, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability as well as visual acuity
- Frequently lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
