Overview
Lake Nona Ophthalmology is seeking a hands-on surgical professional to manage and staff our newly opened Office-Based Surgery (OBS) suite. You'll scrub in on cases, run sterile processing, and manage the surgical supply chain, working directly with Dr. Chirag J. Patel, MD, FACS.
This role starts part-time based on current case volume, with a clear path to full-time as our surgical schedule grows.
Duties
- Scrub/circulate for cataract, LASIK, EVO ICL, and ocuplastic cases; set up sterile field and trays per preference cards.
- Manage full sterile processing workflow: decontamination, sterilization, and compliance documentation (OSHA/CDC/AORN)
- Own surgical supply inventory: ordering, par levels, and vendor relationships for IOL's, phaco disposables, and consumables.
- Develop OBS protocols and support accreditation/ compliance readiness.
- Coordinate case scheduling with the surgeon and surgical coordinator.
- Track implant/consumable costs and controlled substance log compliance.
- Hands-on experience with medical equipment operation, sterilization processes, and handling surgical instruments specific to ophthalmology.
- Qualifications
- 3-5 years of ophthalmic surgical experience. ( cataract and/or LASIK required)
- Prior lead/supervisory experience preferred
- COT, CRST, or CST certification preferred
- Sterile processing knowledge (IAHCSMM/CBSPD a plus)
- EHR experience; ModMed a plus
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
