Position Description: Under the direction of the Park Buildings and Grounds Manager at Penitentiary Glen Reservation, the part-time Building Maintenance Worker performs a wide range of building maintenance functions to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of park facilities. This position is responsible for maintaining public spaces and supporting facility operations through custodial, light construction, and repair work.
Employees must be flexible to work up to 28 hours per week, including weekends, weekdays, evenings, and holidays.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain park buildings and amenities, including restrooms and other structures.
- Perform custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, washing windows, and restocking supplies.
- Assist with building opening/closing and light construction or repair tasks.
- Perform general maintenance, including painting, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
- Support park programs and special events with setup and teardown.
- Stock maintenance supplies and ensure equipment is kept in good working condition.
- Conduct snow and ice removal on walkways and entry areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in custodial and building maintenance tasks required.
- Experience working with outside vendors and contractors preferred.
Position Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable on the agency’s liability policy.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and follow irregular schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of painting, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to safely operate small power tools and maintenance equipment.
- Proficient in basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office.
