About Lake Merwin Campers Hideaway
Lake Merwin Campers Hideaway (LMCH) is a private, member-owned camping community located on nearly 600 acres of forested land in southwest Washington. The Hideaway operates year-round and functions much like a small city, providing roads, water, electrical infrastructure, facilities, and grounds services to a large and active membership.
We are seeking motivated, dependable individuals to join our Maintenance Department and help support the daily operations of the camp.
Position Overview
Maintenance Workers at LMCH perform a wide range of hands-on duties that help keep the campground safe, functional, and welcoming. This position involves outdoor work, equipment operation, facility upkeep, and infrastructure support.
This posting may be filled at Level I (entry-level) or Level II (skilled) depending on the applicant's experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability.
Maintenance Workers report to the Lead or Senior Maintenance Worker and work closely with management and other departments.
Maintenance Worker – Level I (Entry-Level / Training)
Level I Maintenance Workers focus on foundational maintenance and grounds duties while learning camp systems, equipment, and standards.
Typical duties include:
- Groundskeeping such as mowing, weed eating, trimming, and debris removal
- Blowing roads, parking areas, and walkways
- Common area cleanup and basic janitorial duties
- Assisting higher-level maintenance staff with projects
- Transporting tools, materials, and supplies
- Basic care, cleanup, and inspection of tools and equipment
- Watching for and reporting conditions requiring attention
- Performing other duties as directed by LMCH Management
This level is ideal for candidates who are reliable, physically capable, and interested in learning a skilled maintenance trade in a unique outdoor environment.
Maintenance Worker – Level II (Skilled / Technical)
Level II Maintenance Workers perform more advanced and independent maintenance work and support camp infrastructure systems.
In addition to Level I duties, Level II responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with operations, monitoring, maintenance, and repair of water and power systems
- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on facilities and equipment
- Operating and maintaining light and heavy equipment
- Troubleshooting mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry issues
- Assisting with maintenance projects and emergency response
- Providing guidance and on-the-job instruction to Level I employees
Level II employees are expected to demonstrate sound judgment, technical ability, and a higher level of independence.
Required Qualifications (All Applicants)
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 75–100 pounds
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as needed
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification
- Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to follow safety procedures and camp policies
Preferred Qualifications
For Level I consideration:
- Experience in groundskeeping, janitorial work, or general labor
- Familiarity with hand tools and light equipment
- Willingness to learn maintenance systems and procedures
For Level II consideration:
- Experience in maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or mechanical work
- Experience operating light or heavy equipment
- Ability to read and interpret basic electrical or plumbing schematics
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
