What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookstore Rush Worker position at Lake Land College?
- Description
Assist students through the book pick up process, pull textbooks, restock shelves, and various other duties associated with book pick up. This is a temporary position that lasts 2-4 weeks at the start of the semester and a week or two at the end of the semester, with the possibility of returning for future semesters.
- Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)
- Pull student textbooks using a printed textbook list, ensuring accuracy and promptness.
- Package textbook orders for shipping; unpacking shipments coming into the bookstore.
- Greet and answer customer questions via various communication methods, such as in-person, telephone and email.
- Assist with making student IDs as needed.
- Assist on the point of sale when backup is needed.
- Assist in other areas of the bookstore as needed.
- Specific Functional Job Requirements
Education: High school diploma
Experience: Minimum experience in retail preferred.
Knowledge: Ability to read and understand the student booklist and layout of textbook stacks.
Skills: Reading and comprehension skills, customer service skills.
Personal: General business and customer service etiquette.
Physical: Ability to lift and transport 20-30 pounds repetitively; ability to walk back and forth and/or stand throughout the duration of the shift.
