Sport Turf Maintenance Crew (Bermuda Grass)

Sports Maintenance Technician:

As the Sports Maintenance Technician involves maintaining and preparing athletic fields for various sports, including mowing, trimming, line marking, and operating equipment like mowers, tractors, and field groomers. The Sports Maintenance Crew Member will report to the Sports Maintenance Manger of Lake Jem Sports.

Key Responsibilities:

· Build the “Team” Culture within Lake Jem Sports with training, development, mentoring, supervising, and providing feedback to Lake Jem Sports Staff

· Ability to understand other facets of the Lake Jem Sports Book of Business and provide additional support as needed

· Perform sports field maintenance operations, including use of Reel mowers or High Speed Rotary mowers, string trimming and edging

· Perform preventive maintenance programs for all equipment related to field maintenance, ensuring machinery is operational and well-maintained

· Assist in the set up and preparation of sports fields for athletic events, including spinning clay, marking and laying out fields to meet specific sport regulations as needed

· Perform care and preparation of baseball infield clay surfaces, ensuring proper packing, chalking, edging etc.

· Perform assigned daily work activities such as mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, spinning clay etc.

· Keeps related tools and spaces clean and organized

· Incorporate safe work practices in job related activities

· Capable of operating mowing equipment, utility vehicles, rollers, tractors, spray equipment, skid steers, rotary spreaders, hand paint machines, and power hand tools as necessary is expected

· Prepare athletic fields and facilities for sporting events and practices, ensuring a high standard of safety and quality.

· Conducts general inspection of athletic facilities to ensure the safety of the public. Reports potential safety hazards or maintenance issues to supervisor for follow up as necessary

· Ability to understand and conduct Irrigation Maintenance as needed

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED

· Strong communication

· Must be a detail-oriented self-starter

· Ability to perform responsibilities with limited supervision

· Ability to work outdoors in all conditions

· Ability to be flexible and maintain organization in a changing environment

· Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• A valid state driver's license.
