Join the founding team of Lake Harbor Behavioral Health! A new behavioral health and substance use treatment facility opening soon in Gurnee, IL.
We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Human Resources Generalist to support the launch and ongoing operations of our newest facility. This role will partner closely with leaders and employees to provide full-cycle HR support, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, compliance, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and leaders, providing guidance on policies, procedures, benefits, payroll, and employment matters
- Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and employment documentation
- Support recruiting efforts by posting positions, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and partnering with hiring managers throughout the hiring process
- Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data
- Administer employee benefits, leave of absence programs, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and related documentation
- Assist with payroll administration and timekeeping review
- Partner with leaders on employee relations, coaching, performance management, investigations, and policy interpretation
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies
- Support employee engagement, recognition, retention, and culture initiatives
- Assist with HR reporting, audits, compliance activities, and continuous process improvement
- Collaborate with operational, clinical, and corporate teams to support organizational success
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; Bachelor's degree highly preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of Human Resources experience required
- Healthcare or behavioral health experience preferred
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification preferred
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems preferred
- Strong knowledge of employment law, employee relations, and HR best practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and HRIS platforms
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between facilities as needed
