Position Summary

As a Commercial Foreman Glazier, you will lead glazing crews on commercial construction projects in Florida. You will oversee the safe, accurate, and timely installation of glass and aluminum systems, including curtain walls, storefronts, entrance systems, windows, doors, skylights, and structural glazing, while ensuring full compliance with the Florida Building Code, high-wind load requirements, and wind-borne debris protection standards. You will coordinate closely with general contractors, other trades, architects, engineers, and project teams to deliver projects that meet architectural specifications, building codes, and our high standards for quality and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Crew Leadership & Supervision: Lead, direct, and mentor a crew of commercial glaziers; assign daily tasks, monitor progress, provide hands-on technical guidance, and ensure high-quality, efficient work throughout the project.
• Project Planning & Execution: Read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications to plan and sequence glazing work; coordinate with the general contractor and other trades to maintain project schedule while adhering to Florida Building Code requirements.
• Glass & Aluminum Installation: Oversee and perform complex installations of curtain wall systems, storefront framing, entrance doors/hardware, window systems, skylights, and other new-construction glazing elements; ensure precise measurement, alignment, anchorage, and glazing in compliance with wind load and impact standards.
• Glazing & Weatherproofing: Supervise and execute proper application of structural silicone, wet glazing, tape glazing, gaskets, and perimeter sealants to achieve air- and water-tight, energy-efficient assemblies that meet FBC performance criteria.
• Florida Code & Wind/Debris Compliance: Ensure all installations comply with Florida Building Code (Chapter 24 Glass and Glazing, Chapter 16 Structural Design), including wind load resistance (ASTM E1300), wind-borne debris protection (large/small missile impact per ASTM E1886/E1996 or TAS 201/202/203), and use of Florida Product Approved or Miami-Dade NOA systems (especially in High-Velocity Hurricane Zones).
• Safety Leadership: Conduct daily safety meetings, enforce OSHA and company safety standards, ensure proper use of fall protection, manlifts, rigging, and tools, and maintain a zero-incident job site in varying Florida weather and height conditions.
• Quality Assurance: Perform and oversee in-progress and final inspections of installed systems to verify plumb, level, thermal breaks, anchorage, sealant continuity, and full compliance with project specifications, FBC, and approved product listings.
• Material & Logistics Coordination: Manage delivery, staging, and inventory of glass, aluminum, hardware, sealants, and tools; verify all materials match submittals, Florida Product Approvals, and project requirements; coordinate just-in-time deliveries with the project schedule.
• On-Site Coordination & Communication: Serve as the primary glazing point of contact on site; provide daily updates to superintendents/project managers, resolve field issues quickly, participate in coordination meetings, and maintain strong professional relationships with all stakeholders.
• Problem Solving & Field Decisions: Identify and address field conditions, tolerances, or conflicts in real time to keep the glazing scope on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with Florida codes.
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on commercial glazing experience on new construction projects, with a minimum of 4-5years in a lead, foreman, or supervisory role.
• Proven track record installing modern impact-resistant curtain wall, storefront, and entrance systems on mid- to large-scale commercial new builds in high-wind or hurricane-prone regions.
• Strong knowledge of the Florida Building Code (current edition), including Chapter 24 (Glass and Glazing), wind load design (ASTM E1300), wind-borne debris protection (ASTM E1886/E1996, TAS protocols), and product approval requirements (Florida Product Approval or Miami-Dade NOA).
• Experience working in High-Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ) or wind-borne debris regions is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent; glazing apprenticeship, vocational training, or industry certifications a strong plus.
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial glazing systems, aluminum framing, glass types (low-E, insulated, tempered, laminated/impact-resistant, etc.), structural silicone glazing, and perimeter sealants.
• Excellent ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and engineering details.
• Solid understanding of relevant building codes, energy codes, wind load calculations, impact resistance standards, and industry best practices for Florida new construction.
• Required certifications: OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 preferred), CPR, Forklift/Manlift certification (or ability to obtain quickly).
• Demonstrated leadership ability to manage, train, and motivate a crew while maintaining schedule, quality, and code compliance.
• Exceptional attention to detail, pride in craftsmanship, and unwavering commitment to safety.
• Physical ability to work at heights, in varying Florida weather conditions (heat, humidity, storms), and lift/carry up to 100 lbs.
• Professional attitude with strong communication and respect when interacting with clients, contractors, vendors, engineers, and teammates.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Willingness to travel within a 70-mile radius of the home office (travel reimbursement provided); projects may include Florida-specific high-wind zones.

Other Duties as Assigned

• Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by management to support company goals, project needs, or operational requirements. This may include assisting other crews, participating in training, attending project meetings, or supporting shop fabrication when needed.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed primarily outdoors on active commercial construction sites in Florida.
• Frequent exposure to varying weather conditions, including high heat, humidity, rain, direct sunlight, and occasional storms.
• Work at significant heights on scaffolding, swing stages, manlifts, and roofs; must be comfortable working from elevations up to 100 feet.
• Regular exposure to loud noise, dust, construction debris, and potential chemical fumes from sealants and cleaners.
• Physically demanding environment requiring prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing, and repetitive motions.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs regularly and occasionally heavier loads with team assistance or mechanical aids.
• Work hours may include early starts, long days, occasional overtime, and weekend work to meet project schedules and deadlines.
• Travel required within a 70-mile radius of the home office (travel reimbursement provided); occasional overnight stays may be necessary for larger or distant projects.
