Job Information:

The Lake George CSD has 2 openings for part time food service helpers. Both positions are at the Lake George Junior/Senior High School.

One Position is from 7:30 - 1 pm (5.5 hrs per day when school is in session)

2nd Position is from 9 - 1 (4 hours per day when school is in session)

Job Summary:
The Food Service Helper plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of the school's cafeteria. This position involves assisting with food preparation, serving meals to students and staff, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. The ideal candidate will be friendly, reliable, and committed to providing a positive dining experience for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of meals, including washing, cutting, and assembling ingredients according to the menu and dietary guidelines.
  • Serving: Serve food to students and staff in a courteous and efficient manner, ensuring portion control and adherence to health standards.
  • Sanitation and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining environment by washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Stocking and Inventory: Help in receiving and storing deliveries, organizing pantry items, and ensuring all supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Customer Service: Interact with students and staff positively and respectfully, addressing any inquiries or concerns about food options.
  • Compliance: Follow all school policies and health regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and safety procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the kitchen staff and other school personnel to ensure smooth operations and a pleasant dining experience.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Food Service Manager to support the cafeteria's function.

  • Attention to Detail: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization, ensuring all food safety protocols are followed.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with team members, students, and staff, fostering a cooperative and friendly atmosphere.
  • Adaptability: Be flexible and willing to assist with various tasks as needed, adapting to changes in the daily routine.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrate a professional demeanor at all times, including wearing appropriate attire and maintaining a neat appearance. Personal cell phone usage should be kept to emergency use only.
  • Physical Stamina: Be able to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights (up to 25 lbs), perform repetitive task, bending and reaching, walking, coordination and balance, withstand hot and humid working conditions.
  • Positive Attitude: Exhibit enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards the job and the school community.
