Job Summary
The Business Office Associate is responsible for carrying out the essential job functions of the business office in a timely, efficient and accurate manner, while providing excellent customer service to the patients of the practice.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Daily posts all pending charges from the prior day’s business. Reviews each charge line item for appropriate procedure and diagnosis coding, ensuring insurance claim accuracy prior to transmittal to clearinghouse.
Assists with identifying collection accounts and taking the appropriate course of action per practice policy and procedure.
Receives incoming phone calls for the business office. Answers patient questions regarding insurance matters, account balances, etc. Provides a high degree of customer service to all patients of the practice.
Balances daily receipts posted into the practice management system, promptly reporting any discrepancies to the Business office manager.
Prepares daily bank deposits
Able to manage and follow up on all outstanding claims over 45 days.
Posts insurance and patient payments as assigned in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
Preparing insurance and patients refunds as needed
Serves as a backup for all other members of the business office staff.
Assists the Business Office manager with other projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 coding and appropriate modifier usage a plus
Clear understanding of differences in insurance plans, PPO, HMO, Medicaid etc.
Familiar with Athena software a plus but not required
36 hours per week. Practice offers, medical, dental, vision insurance and 401K
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
