Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring patient status
- Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during treatments or examinations
- Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines to aid in accurate diagnoses
- Maintain detailed medical records, including documenting treatments, medications, and patient progress with veterinary terminology
- Provide pet care services such as grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery processes
- Support animal husbandry activities including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and ensuring proper animal physiology conditions
- Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and performing basic dental cleanings or preparations
Skills
- Proven kennel experience with the ability to handle multiple animals comfortably and confidently
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary terminology to support clinical tasks effectively
- Hands-on veterinary critical care experience with skills in animal catheterization and aseptic technique
- Laboratory experience including sample collection, processing, and operating diagnostic equipment like X-ray machines
- Equine experience is a plus for handling larger animals with specialized needs
- Dog handling skills combined with dog training knowledge to manage various temperaments safely
- Excellent animal restraint and handling abilities to ensure safety during procedures or examinations
- Pet grooming skills to assist in maintaining animals’ hygiene and comfort
