What are the responsibilities and job description for the English Teacher - Interim, Fall 2026 position at Lake Forest Academy?
Lake Forest Academy is seeking an English Teacher to begin in August and work through October 30, 2026 as a maternity leave replacement. This position will teach four classes within the English department, including English 9 and/or English 10. Additionally, this position will have the opportunity to participate in the school’s co-curricular afternoon program (expected of all faculty at the Academy) for additional pay. This frequently includes coaching responsibilities.

We seek teachers who inspire intellectual curiosity, creative thought, disciplined analysis, confident speaking, clear writing, and a genuine appreciation of literature rooted in close reading of primary texts. LFA’s English classes are designed to develop students who are creative and critical thinkers, close readers of varied texts, effective writers, and engaged participants.
General overview of responsibilities:
Teach assigned four sections of English courses
Provide timely feedback to students and parents
Engage in ongoing professional growth
Serve as a co-advisor to a small group of students
Serve on committees and task forces, as needed
Required characteristics and/or skills of this position:

Preferred experience and/or education:
Bachelor's degree or higher required
Experience teaching a range of core English courses and electives
Experience teaching writing
Experience teaching international students, especially ELL
Experience with curricular design preferred
Compensation/Benefits:
Because of the temporary nature of this position, it is not eligible for benefits or campus housing. Final salary will be commensurate with the experience and expertise of the final appointed candidate, within the school’s salary scale.
