Job Description

About the Role: The ship’s Steward position is a forward-facing cabin position that is responsible for the passenger needs and overall cabin environment during ferry operations. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in shipboard customer service, hospitality, or food preparation roles 
• Knowledge and use of Clover or other point of service sales system to process customer payments and effectively manage inventory 
• Experience in emergency response or first aid training.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome passengers, assisting them with boarding and exiting the vessel to ensure a smooth, safe and efficient transition. 
• Provide meal and beverage service to passengers and crew members while ensuring passenger comfort, needs and safety are met. 
• Maintain high standards of hospitality, cleanliness and hygiene in all cabin areas.
• Coordinate food and beverage stocking levels, food preparation and inventory management on the vessel with our Food and Beverage Manager. 
• Develop an understanding of shipboard safety procedures and use of equipment. 
• Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary, following established protocols.

Skills:

Successful candidates will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills as you will be interacting with passengers and effectively addressing their needs. Teamwork is vital, as you will work closely with the vessel Captain, ship’s Mate and crew, Manager of Food and Beverage and terminal staff. Effective problem-solving skills will be needed to address unexpected situations and resolve passenger concerns in a calm and professional manner as they arise. Attention to detail is crucial for conducting safety checks and ensuring compliance with regulations.
