REPORTS TO: VP OF HR & OPERATIONS and DIRECTOR OF HR
STATUS: PART-TIME, EXEMPT
Lake Erie College, located in Painesville, OH, invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant, Human Resources. The Graduate Assistant will assist the HR staff with dedicated responsibilities, clerical functions, and special projects and will maintain a high level of confidentiality. This is a twelve-month, two-year appointment, pending successful evaluation at the end of year one.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares, processes, and maintains all job posting/description and search records, per both compliance requirements and department standards.

Manages all initial adjunct faculty HR processing, in cooperation with deans, Academic Affairs, and the Registrar’s Office.

Manages general HR email account, handling or redirecting all inquiries and needs via this channel.

Processes background checks.

Constructs all HR Welcome orientation packets and other new hire resources with the director.

Maintains HR Central, Human Resources’ SharePoint site and key resources there, including announcements, organization charts, at-a-glance directories.

Oversees and markets department Wellness Challenges and Employee of the Month initiatives.

Assists with special department projects.

Assists with development and generation of key department metrics.

Performs receptionist duties related to main line phone calls and office visitors.

Performs office clerical duties and purchasing tied to all aspects of department responsibilities.

Runs errands on campus, as needed.

Follows all terms and conditions per the Policy for Graduate Assistants.

Other duties as assigned by the human resources staff.
Qualifications:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES:

Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into a Lake Erie College graduate program required.

Knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications.
