What are the responsibilities and job description for the PBL Facilitator - School of Dental Medicine (part time) position at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine?
JOB SUMMARY: Problem Based Learning Facilitators for the School of Dental Medicine are required to serve as educators in their area of expertise and to facilitate Problem Based Learning (PBL) groups. Successful candidates are knowledgeable and qualified to teach their area of subject expertise at a Graduate/Dental School level.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are a list of Academic Exercises that may be required as a member of the Basic Science Faculty from time to time:
- Serve as content expert in area of expertise;
- Serve as Problem Based Learning (PBL) facilitator (up to 2 groups = 12 hours/week);
- Provide examination questions for PBL exams in area of expertise;
- Faculty member will contribute and be responsible for overall student success, including, but not limited to, advising and student outcomes;
- Faculty member will contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;
- Faculty member will participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience;
- Faculty member will commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach;
- Must be able to take direction and receive assignments from the Director of Problem Based Learning;
- Must be available for work during agreed upon hours for student instruction; and
- Accept other duties agreed upon or assigned on a part-time basis that would further the mission of the institution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and experience equivalent to: Doctorate level of achievement (D.D.S., D.M.D, Ph.D. or terminal degree) and at least two (2) years of teaching experience at a medical college, dental school, or equivalent level required.
