What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Coordinator - Child & Family Connections position at Lake County?
Scheduled Hours: 40 hours per week
This position is grant funded through 6/30/2026.
- Manages assigned programs with others and supervises assigned staff including recruitment, hiring, training, problem solving, evaluations and disciplinary actions, if necessary.
- Oversees Child and Family Connections (CFC) program activities on a daily basis and assures that staff/program actions are family centered and follow the Illinois early intervention policies and procedures.
- Oversees Hearing &Vision (H&V) Screening program activities on a daily basis and assures staff/program actions are within guidelines of the state H&V agency and there is a high level of customer service.
- Provides or arranges for staff supervision, reviews assignments and assigns cases and workload as needed.
- Provides administrative supervision of staff including completion of performance appraisals.
- Oversees the planning, development and implementation of a community awareness and education program regarding early intervention services in the county.
- Coordinates actions and press releases with the public relations staff of the LCHD.
- Conducts periodic record reviews to ensure program compliance and quality assurance of the program for families.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the demographics and the needs of populations served by programs.
- Monitors, analyzes and disseminates information on federal and state legislative and regulatory changes that impact assigned programs.
- Develops office and program policies and procedures to assure appropriate services to clients.
- Implements agency policies and procedures.
- Acts as a resource support for all program staff.
- Performs outreach, referral and case management services for the program, as needed.
- Completes and maintains necessary system reporting and other documentation as appropriate and within established timelines.
- Establishes effective collaborative working relationships with community resources and community program leaders including ongoing pursuit of new resources and relationships.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with the state agencies and facilitates local adherence to program guidelines and changes.
- Develops, oversees and implements program budgets, and monitors revenues and expenditures for assigned programs.
- Develops and implements standard operating procedures for the CFC and Hearing and Vision Screening programs.
- Attends meetings as required by LCHD and funding agencies for the purposes of program management. Conducts staff meetings and provides staff enhancement/development through various resources.
- Provides effective presentations to families, referral sources and organizations.
- Maintains awareness and initiates distribution of information to all service providers of the early intervention program.
- Oversees the development of provider recruitment plans to increase the number of available providers to families in the Illinois early intervention system.
- Develops and maintains a working knowledge of individual Emergency Management roles.
- Participates in development of Prevention goals and objectives and provides feedback necessary to monitor progress toward meeting them.
- Coordinates with other programs internally that serve related populations.
- Regularly attends and participates in supervisory and program staff meetings, in-services, and internal work groups.
- All other relevant duties as assigned.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in child development or related field.
- Completion of Illinois Early Intervention System training, as appropriate.
- Two years related experience is required.
- Minimum of two years of supervisory experience preferred.
