Available Shifts:
- Monday - Friday: 11:30am - 5:00pm
RATE: $14.00 starting rate and a FREE Family YMCA membership
- Supervise the children, classroom, and all activities. Create a safe environment where all individuals feel welcomed and respected.
- Participate in planning and implementing program activities within the established YMCA guidelines.
- Nurture children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging. Work with supervisors and peers to develop the whole child.
- Make ongoing observations and evaluations of each child. Report observations to supervisor.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; help them connect with each other and the YMCA. Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Set up, organize, and put away needed class equipment. Familiar with proper usage of equipment. Report damaged equipment.
- Follow all YMCA and state policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Maintains all appropriate forms and documentation in accordance with these policies.
- Understand your role as a mandated reporter for elder and child abuse. Report and respond to situations in accordance with policies and procedures
- Demonstrate and uphold the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and growth mindset in all aspects of your work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate program activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds. No experience, we'll train you.
- Must be able to complete OHIO DJFS-and YMCA required trainings within the specified time frame.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Medium work. Exerting 50 pounds of force rarely, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- Frequently subject to environmental conditions- heat and humidity both inside and outside. May occur mostly outside.
- Ability to: stand, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching frequently throughout the work shift; squatting, jumping, running, balancing, lifting and repetitive motion may be needed depending on the activity; walk throughout the facility frequently and may need to climb stairs occasionally; have visual acuity to determine safety, security and assessment of participant’s movements; receive detailed information through sound as well as express through spoken word.
