What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Watch Staff position at Lake County YMCA?
LOOKING FOR A FUN AND FLEXIBLE JOB IN CHILD CARE? The Central YMCA in Painesville is hiring part time child watch staff members.
Days/Hours:
- Fridays, 8:45am - 12:00pm
- Saturdays, 8:45am - 12:00pm
Pay Rate: $12.00 starting rate and a FREE Family YMCA membership
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise the children and actively engages in activities.
- Create a safe environment where all individuals feel welcomed and respected.
- Make ongoing observations of each child. Report observations to supervisor.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with children and parents; help them connect with each other and the YMCA. Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Set up, organize, and put away needed toys/equipment. Familiar with proper usage of equipment. Report damaged equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 16 years of age.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Ability to implement age-appropriate activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Medium work. Exerting 50 pounds of force rarely, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. Frequently subject to environmental conditions- heat and humidity both inside and outside. May occur mostly outside. Ability to: stand, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching frequently throughout the work shift; squatting, jumping, running, balancing, lifting and repetitive motion may be needed depending on group exercise style/ type; walk throughout the facility frequently and may need to climb stairs occasionally; have visual acuity to determine safety, security, and assessment of participant’s movements; receive detailed information through sound as well as express through spoken word.
