Department: LC Surveyor
Job Overview / Requirements:
Provides direct supervision to the following job titles (Field Crew Supervisor, Field Crew and Drafting personnel). Strong background in math, science and / or surveying. Experience with surveying highly beneficial. Excellent organizational skills required. Proficiency in computer skills with standard software such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CAD, Adobe Pro. Ability to physically complete all tasks. Motor Vehicle License required.
Surveying Duties
- Oversee daily activities of the department, employee supervision
- Section Corner research and analysis for retracement and re-establishment of missing section corners
- Perpetuation of existing section corners, meeting the state mandate of a minimum 5% of inventory per year
- Aid in preparing drawings with use Computer aided drafting (CAD)
- Communication with consultants (Surveying/Engineering)
- Project management with reviewing consultants of incoming applications for the following
- Residential/commercial subdivision development
- Individual site development
- Drainage related survey requests
- Work with the field crew in the field when needed
- Reviews of applications for the following: Variance of use, Variance from development standards, Special exceptions, Zone changes, Fence letters within a drainage, easement, Foundation as-builts for individual site development, Waiver requests, Petition for vacates.
- Budget reviews for the department
- Work with the GIS department on updating the GIS and website pertaining to surveying information
- Working with the public via phone, email or in person
- Providing surveying technical support to the office staff (questions from the public)
- Work with other department heads on policies and procedures
- Approve surveying department requests for leave
- Ordering supplies for surveying crew
- Monitors safety practices for surveying crew
- Ability to run a level transit, total station and GPS unit
- Oversee accessibility of archive survey information available for the public via: paper or electronic form
Fieldwork related abilities:
a. Able to stand for long periods
b. Ability to lift 50lbs
c. Ability to use a shovel, pick, hammer, gas powered jackhammer
d. Valid driver license
e. Ability to drive a club crew 4x4 truck
f. Ability to drive a utility vehicle off road
g. Ability to pull a trailer behind a truck
h. Ability to deal with outside changing weather conditions
i. Ability to walk up and down steep change of grades and distance
J. Able to use a computer and various software
k. Excel, Word, Outlook, CAD, Adobe Pro, PowerPoint, etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,964.00 per year
