Nutrition Program Assistant Manager

The Lake County Council on Aging is looking for a compassionate, organized, and energetic Nutrition Program Assistant Manager to join our team. In this rewarding role, you'll help ensure that seniors throughout Lake County receive safe, nutritious meals through our Meals on Wheels and congregate dining programs. Your work will play a vital role in maintaining program quality, supporting staff and volunteers, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping seniors remain healthy and independent.


What You'll Do

As our Nutrition Program Assistant Manager, you will:

  • Help ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality nutrition services by monitoring compliance with Health Department, Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging (WRAAA), and other applicable regulations.
  • Conduct quarterly nutrition site inspections in accordance with WRAAA requirements and follow up on any corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist with internal program audits to promote quality, consistency, and continuous improvement across all nutrition sites.
  • Serve as a resource for nutrition sites by providing guidance on food shortages, meal delivery issues, and day-to-day operational concerns.
  • Act as liaison between the Agency, WRAAA, Greater Cleveland Food Bank (GCFB), nutrition sites, and clients to resolve issues and maintain effective communication.
  • Provide backup support for the Nutrition Services Assistant, Site Coordinators, and nutrition site staff to ensure uninterrupted service during staff absences.
  • Assist with training staff and volunteers to promote program standards, food safety, and exceptional customer service.
  • Monitor and track weekly, monthly, and quarterly meal usage documentation and related program records.
  • Manage the East Avenue food pantry and frozen meal inventory.
  • Maintain inventory of nutrition program equipment, supplies, and emergency food stock.
  • Assist with ordering program supplies as needed.
  • Represent the agency at community outreach events.

We're seeking someone who is organized, dependable, and committed to improving the lives of older adults.


Preferred qualifications include:

  • Associate degree in a related field, or
  • Experience in a nutrition site or kitchen, or
  • Experience in food service, nutrition programs, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.


The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and comfort using technology and Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to research, interpret, and apply Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) regulations related to nutrition site operations, volunteer engagement, and staffing.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative, service-oriented attitude and a willingness to assist wherever needed.


Requirements

  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and current automobile insurance.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check.


Salary

  • Negotiable dependent on qualifications.

Schedule

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.


Regular office hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.


Some schedule flexibility is required to accommodate occasional early morning coverage at nutrition sites.
