DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- The Nursing Assistant provides physical patient care in a safe manner under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Communicates abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, etc.) to appropriate staff.
- Consistently utilizes basic decision making skills to complete routine tasks.
- Collaborates with unit staff to provide coordinated patient care.
- Participates in the following best practices in a consistent and positive manner: huddles, AIDET, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, Service Excellence, and the use of the white boards.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Technical Skills as required by department
- Current CNA/Orderly Certification or completed basic skills course in School of Nursing
- High School Diploma/GED Preferred; Graduate of Approved Certified Nurse Aide Program or Related Experience
- Entry Level Position.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Work requires a variety of physical activities, including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time.
- Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergent situations.
- May be required to assist in controlling disorderly conduct or combative patients.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
