Purpose
This position is responsible for preparing components for the paint and powdercoating process. Tasks will also include post paint and powder coat application tasks (unmasking, inspection, packaging)
Safety
· Strictly follows safety policies, procedures, rules and work methods.
· Promptly reports injuries for timely diagnosis and medical treatment.
· Makes practical safety suggestions to support continuous improvements in safety.
Responsibilities
- Visually inspect parts for previous damage.
- Visually inspect parts and paperwork to ensure prior steps are complete.
- Clean, mask, plug, and fixture components prior to paint and powder coat application.
- Work with others to prep parts properly.
- Maintain equipment and keep work area in order.
- Operate batch ovens according to work order specifications.
- Inspect parts after coating is complete.
- Unmask, unplug, and package components as needed.
- Complete all paperwork accordingly.
- Must be willing to help out in other departments or willingly to complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Required
· Previous experience working in a paint shop a plus.
· Perform basic math calculations.
· Forklift experience a plus.
· Possess strong attention to detail.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation, including, but not limited to:
· Constant standing; frequently handling various parts
· Frequent walking, reaching at waist level, pushing/pulling, grasping/squeezing, pinching, fine motor dexterity
· Occasionally sitting, reaching overhead, reaching at shoulder level, reaching at knee and floor level, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, crawling, ladder/stair climbs, pivoting, twisting, and neck extension/rotation.
· Handling and lifting of parts and/or equipment (minimum of 50 lbs. lifting/carrying and 50 lb. pushing/pulling is required).
· Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment(varies per facility)
· Perform repetitive work more than 8 hours per day, including weekends.
· Read fine print and distinguish colors.
· Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
