Purchaser / Estimator Job Description
The Purchaser / Estimator position supports projects through all phases of construction, including submittal management, material procurement, change orders, and project tracking. This role is responsible for obtaining shop drawings and product data, issuing purchase orders, tracking material lead times, and maintaining accurate project records. You will work closely with the Project Manager, General Contractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure successful project execution from preconstruction through installation.
Daily Responsibilities
Submittal Management
· Coordinate and manage the submittal process from initiation through final approval.
· Order and review shop drawings for accuracy and completeness.
· Obtain and compile vendor information, including product data, installation instructions, warranties, and compliance documentation.
· Coordinate color, finish, and product selections with the General Contractor and Design Team.
· Order and distribute material samples as required.
· Address submittal review comments, revise shop drawings, and process resubmittals as needed.
Purchasing & Project Coordination
· Prepare and issue purchase orders to release materials for production.
· Track project schedules and material lead times.
· Maintain current records of approved submittals, fabrication drawings, and material schedules.
· Ensure Field Superintendent has all necessary information to support installation activities.
· Monitor pricing expiration dates and potential cost escalations.
· Review all project modifications, such as new drawings, sketches, supplemental instructions, construction change bulletins, etc. for impacts to our scope.
Change Order Management
· Obtain material pricing and prepare change order proposals as required.
· Manage pricing revisions resulting from submittal changes, owner selections, construction change directives, supplemental instructions, and any other project modifications.
Project Tracking & Documentation
· Maintain and update project tracking spreadsheet (Current Jobs Spreadsheet)
· Monitor submittal status, procurement activities, purchase orders, and material deliveries to ensure projects remain on schedule.
* $2,000.00 Sign-On Bonus
Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
