Laitram Machinery is seeking a motivated and hands-on individual to support our Manufacturing Engineering department. This role is ideal for someone with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment who enjoys working on a wide variety of projects both on the floor and at a computer to help improve efficiency, organization, and standardization throughout our production facility.
This person will assist in developing work instructions and standard operating procedures, creating and maintaining CNC programs, supporting fixture design and setup in multiple departments, conducting time studies, troubleshooting production equipment issues, helping fabricate or purchase storage solutions for parts or tools, and more. The ideal candidate for this role is someone with a positive attitude who is self-directed and enjoys working in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with creating and maintaining work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Support the development and improvement of manufacturing processes.
- Create and maintain programs for CNC equipment, document best practices.
- Design/procure storage solutions for parts and tools.
- Conduct time studies to evaluate the effectiveness of (or need for) process changes.
- Assist with the design and setup of welding and assembly fixtures.
- Assist with troubleshooting issues on production equipment.
- Help standardize common components used among various product lines.
- Help ensure shop safety features/rules comply with OSHA requirements.
- Help ensure that our products adhere to various compliance requirements/standards based on product type and customer location.
- Collaborate with engineering and production team members on various improvement initiatives.
- 2 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
- 1 years of experience creating and maintaining work instructions, SOPs, and manufacturing documentation.
- 1 years of experience improving manufacturing processes using time studies, data, and measured results.
- General knowledge of common manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks without excess supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (word, excel, powerpoint, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Organized and punctual.
- Positive attitude and willingness to support a variety of projects and initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial technology, engineering, or a related field.
- Good understanding of LEAN, Six Sigma, and DFMA methodologies.
- Experience with one or more 3D CAD modeling softwares.
- Experience programming and/or operating CNC equipment.
