Job Summary:
The CNC Programmer Machinist is responsible for maintaining assigned CNC Milling area and performing various functions. This role requires the ability to read blueprints, interpret dimensional data, and understand geometrical dimensions and tolerancing. The Programmer/Operator will determine the sequence of shaping operations, choose the correct tooling and inserts, and validate programs using Mastercam software. Responsibilities also include writing, modifying and storing of existing programs, operating CNC machining centers, open table setup, 5th axis programming, and performing dimensional validation using precision measuring tools.
Key Responsibilities:
· Read and interpret blueprints, dimensional data, and surface locations.
· Determine the sequence of shaping operations and select appropriate tooling and inserts.
· Validate programs using Mastercam software.
· Write or modify existing CNC programs and store them electronically.
· Operate CNC milling machining centers to perform tasks such as surfacing, turning, reaming, boring, drilling, and tapping.
· Utilize knowledge of machine tool capacities, limitations, machinability of materials, and shop math.
· Perform dimensional validation using micrometers, calipers, and other relevant dimensional checking tools.
· Set up mills or lathes by installing and adjusting jaws, vises, stops, and all material holding devices.
· Obtain and transfer stock to machines manually or with an overhead crane.
· Log all work activities into labor reporting software throughout the working day.
Qualifications:
· Minimum five years of working experience in a CNC machining environment.
· High School Diploma with demonstrated hands-on proficiency in CNC milling and turning metal removal production systems.
· CNC technical degree or equivalent certificate programs are desired.
Tools and Software:
· Experience with Mitsubishi, Haas, controls, Mastercam, and Solidworks CAD is desirable.
Other Responsibilities:
· Use safety equipment at all times.
· Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
· Know the limits of the equipment and tools being used.
· Work in a safe and efficient manner; obey all safety rules and regulations.
· Advise the Production Supervisor of any departmental or machine-specific problems.
· Work overtime as required.
· Perform other activities as directed by supervisors.
· Cross-train as required.
· Exhibit good character traits such as initiative, good attendance, a desire to learn, honesty, and a positive attitude.
