What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Automation Engineering and Innovation position at Laguna Source?
This is a stellar new Engineering and R&D innovation leadership opportunity responsible for evaluating and driving the use of advanced Automation Systems and technologies including DeltaV Automation Systems, Continuous Manufacturing, PAT and Machine Learning/AI to advance next-gen Biomanufacturing capabilities. This is a once-in-a-lifetime Global Expat leadership opportunity within the World?s Largest biologics CMO expanding to 720,000L total mammalian cell culture manufacturing capacity with commercial monoclonal antibody, mRNA vaccine and ADC manufacturing capabilities. You will be charged with overseeing the following activities:
Directing and leading the operations of all site automation engineering activities including Emerson DeltaV and Rockwell automation and PLC controls systems projects within multiple large scale commercial mammalian cell culture biologics manufacturing plants.- Collaborating in the advancement of R&D and CDMO projects with focus in advanced next-gen Continuous Manufacturing platforms for BioProcessing including perfusion, Multi-Column Chromatography and (Process Analytical Technologies) PAT with online trend analysis technologies.
- Driving the use of advanced technologies including Process Automation Systems, PAT, Statistical Data Analysis and Machine Learning/AI to advance the generation of multiple modalities including monoclonal antibodies, Antibody Drug Conjugates, Bispecific Antibodies, Fusion Proteins, RNA biology and LNP formulations.
- Serving as a Technical lead for the evaluation, development and execution novel laboratory hardware and software including advanced High-Throughput Process Automation Systems to improve and add value to key biologics manufacturing capabilities.
BS, MS or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology or related Engineering or Life Sciences field.- 8 years of Biotechnology industry experience working on the advancement of biologic therapeutics, complex monoclonal antibodies, ADC?s, Bispecific Antibodies, Fusion Proteins and/or mRNA vaccines.
- Technical expertise driving the advancement and implementation of process control and automation systems including Emerson DeltaV and Rockwell PLC automation systems.
- Experience driving the advancement of biologic manufacturing efforts through the implementation of next-generation Continuous BioManufacturing platforms and (Process Analytical Technologies).
- Expertise or knowledge of intensified upstream or downstream unit operations including perfusion, multi-column chromatography, single-pass ultrafiltration and in-line diafiltration.
- Expertise in the use and implementation of AI and Machine Learning for bioproduction of therapeutics.
- Expertise in the use of next-gen High-Throughput and Process Automation Systems.
