Description
The Career and Professional Programs at LaGuardia Community College is seeking a part-time
Instructor to teach the Healthcare Data Analysis module for the grant based Medical Billing
Specialist Program. This program is designed to prepare students, with little or no healthcare experience to obtain billing positions for large healthcare providers.
Course topics include: Approaches to Data Analysis, data in Relation to Revenue Cycle, correlations between the Front and Back end of Medical Centers, root Causes Analysis and
Solutions, and Microsoft Excel.
Course Dates: January 29, 2024 – February 22, 2024; 6 -9 pm; Mondays, Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
Modality: Hybrid
Location: Long Island City, New York, NY
Title: Part-Time Grants Sponsored Instructor
Pay rate: $50/hr.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare students to analyze large data sets through cases studies with VLOOK UP and other formulas; sort and filter data; analyzed trends; identify and correct data discrepancies; and create reports.
- Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the course syllabus and program expectation.
- Evaluate student progress, assign grades; maintain records of student's attendance and progress.
- Promote higher-order thinking and problem-solving among educational participants.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize documented student learning.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in healthcare revenue management
- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or Finance
- Expert understanding of healthcare revenue cycle and data analysis, accounts receivables, and denials
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to serve the needs of traditional and non-traditional students.
- Ability to create and modify curriculum
- Teaching experience with adult learners is a plus
