Career and Professional Programs at LaGuardia Community College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced cybersecurity professional to join our team as a part-time CompTIA Security Training Instructor. As a CompTIA Security Training Instructor, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise and guide students towards successful careers in cybersecurity.
Course Topics Include: The Cyber Security Specialist training program covers a range of essential topics in cybersecurity. Students will learn about network security, including identifying vulnerabilities and implementing secure network architecture. They will also gain knowledge in systems security, focusing on securing operating systems and endpoints. The course addresses threats, attacks, and vulnerabilities, teaching students how to analyze attack vectors and implement countermeasures. Identity and access management, cryptography, risk management, security operations, compliance, and ethics are also covered. By mastering these topics, students will be well-prepared for entry-level cybersecurity roles.

Position: Continuing Education Teacher (CET)
Pay Rate-$50/hr.
Responsibilities:
· Delivering Engaging Training Sessions: Design and deliver dynamic and engaging training sessions that cover the essential concepts and skills required for the CompTIA Security certification. Ensure that the course content aligns with the certification objectives and industry best practices.
· Creating Interactive Instructional Materials: Develop instructional materials, including presentations, lab exercises, practical scenarios, and simulations. Utilize diverse teaching methodologies, such as interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and case studies, to cater to different learning styles and enhance student engagement.
· Providing Expertise in Cybersecurity: Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies covered in the CompTIA Security curriculum.
· Facilitating Hands-on Learning: Guide students through practical labs and exercises to help them apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills by providing guidance and feedback during hands-on activities, enabling students to develop practical cybersecurity skills.
· Assessing Student Progress: Evaluate student progress through regular assessments, assignments, quizzes, and exams. Provide constructive feedback to help students identify areas for improvement and reinforce their understanding of cybersecurity concepts. 6.
· Responsible for accurately recording student attendance and tracking their performance throughout the course.
· Addressing Student Needs: Respond promptly and effectively to student questions, concerns, and requests for clarification. Provide additional support and guidance outside of class hours, ensuring students' comprehension and success in the course.
Requirements:
· Cybersecurity Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies covered in the CompTIA Security certification. Holding a CompTIA Security certification or equivalent is highly preferred.
· Instructional Skills: Ability to deliver engaging and effective training sessions.
· Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex cybersecurity concepts. Ability to explain technical information in a clear and concise manner.
· Industry Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the field of cybersecurity, preferably in roles such as a security analyst, security administrator, or network administrator. Familiarity with industry standards, frameworks, and best practices.
· Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as cybersecurity, information technology, or computer science) is preferred. Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA Security , CISSP, or CEH, are highly desirable.
· Teaching Experience: Prior experience in teaching, training, or mentoring individuals in cybersecurity-related topics is a strong asset.
