Position: Seasonal Parks Laborer Pay Classification: Non- Exempt Location: 307 West Jefferson St. La Grange, KY 40031 Department: Parks and Recreation Department Compensation: $12.00-$16.00/hour Responsible To: Director of Parks and Recreation Supervisory Responsibilities: None Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for the upkeep of all City parks to include but not limited to: o Operate a push mower, zero-turn mower, line trimmer and blower as scheduled or as designated. Sweep walkways and sidewalks as assigned or scheduled. o Trim shrubbery and grass around walkways, sidewalks, fences and buildings as assigned. o Pick up trash or debris from park grounds or buildings. o Keep assigned park areas clean, neat and in attractive conditions as instructed. o Keep a sufficient inventory of materials, tools and equipment on site to perform job requirements without interruption. Maintain security of city property in accordance with city policy and procedures. Assist in maintaining the conditions of the James T. Beaumont Community Center. Assist in the proper set-up of the community room for all city official meetings. Responsible for tree trimming within the 5 city parks. Assists with the ground maintenance within the 5 city parks including but not limited to seeding, mowing, fertilizing, watering and weeding lawns; inspecting and repairing playground equipment, picnic tables, benches and other park amenities. On- call some nights and weekends as needed. Responsible for snow removal within the city parks. Maintains restrooms at all city parks. Follow a specific work schedule as directed. Perform all job functions with special attention to good public relations, safety, health and proper procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by the park’s Director. Required Skills/Abilities: Works with employees across all levels of the organization. Strong, creative skills to help develop new and innovative recreation activities. Excellent organizational skills and time management skills. Carpentry experience preferred. Education and Experience: High school diploma/ G.E.D required 1-2 years related experience preferred. Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally. Push/pull with approximately 75 pounds of strength to use lawn mower, etc. Walking, twisting and bending on a regular basis.
