Blast Hole Driller
Dan Lafferty Construction, Inc., is currently seeking experienced full-time blast hole drill operators for 2026 construction projects throughout southern Idaho.
Verifiable previous blast hole drilling experience is required.
Candidate must be willing to travel regionally and work overtime as required.
A competitive wage and benefit package will be offered to selected candidates.
*** 2026 Opportunities exist for remote area work with increased pay scale for experienced operators willing to work rotation shifts and overtime.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Understand the operation and daily functions of blast hole drills including daily maintenance and equipment servicing.
- Operate company vehicles safely and within company established policies.
- Assist with site layout and equipment mobilization.
- Operate equipment on various job sites in all weather conditions.
- Be able to work in an independent environment with limited supervision.
- Performs operator and labor support at job sites and locations under company direction.
- Performs limited general maintenance and preventive maintenance on drills.
- Maintains safe working conditions.
- Produce daily blast pattern layout and proper drill logs for blast crew to follow.
- Proper daily production reporting and accurate completion of electronic time cards is required.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be willing to travel and stay out of town for work as required. Generally, Monday – Friday and returning on the weekends.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
- Mechanical ability and interest.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Able to pass criminal background check, Motor vehicle report, and pre-employment / random drug screening. (NO DUI's)
- Current Driver's License, reliable transportation to work, and maintain motor vehicle insurance in accordance with State law.
- Demonstrate ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Satisfactory safety, performance, and attendance records are required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job is required.

Schedule:
- 8 - 12 hour shift
- Monday to Friday (Saturdays as required)
Experience:
- Blast hole drilling: Minimum of 1 year (Preferred)
- Experience with Sandvik Rangers and DTH Drills preferred but not required.
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
