The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with daily food-service operations and ensuring residents receive meals accurately, safely, and on time. The Dietary Aide works closely with dietary staff, nursing staff, and other members of the care team to meet residents’ nutritional and dietary needs.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare and portion food according to menus, recipes, and established dietary guidelines.
- Assemble and deliver resident meal trays according to prescribed diets, allergies, food preferences, and texture modifications.
- Assist residents with meal service as appropriate and maintain a pleasant dining environment.
- Follow proper procedures for therapeutic, modified-texture, and special diets.
- Check meal trays for accuracy before delivery.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining areas, equipment, utensils, and food-service areas.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment.
- Store and label food properly and monitor food temperatures and expiration dates.
- Follow infection-control and food-safety procedures.
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and rotating food and supplies.
- Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain organized work areas.
- Communicate residents’ food concerns, preferences, or meal-service issues to the appropriate dietary or nursing staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Supervisor.
- Adheres to all Policies and Procedures.
- Conducts self in a manner consistent with our core values at all times.
